ESD-Coated Warehouse Traffic Zones
Providing controlled ESD behaviour in high-movement warehouse areas without floor replacement.
The problem
Warehouse traffic zones experience constant movement from pallets, carts, forklifts, and operators. These areas are often adjacent to ESD-controlled production or storage zones but are rarely treated as part of the ESD system.
Conventional ESD floors and mats fail quickly in traffic corridors, tearing or cracking under repeated load and abrasion.
The substrate
Concrete and industrial epoxy floors in warehouse aisles, loading zones, and internal logistics pathways.
Why replacement was not viable
- High wear rate of thick ESD flooring systems
- Disruption to warehouse operations during installation
- Limited repairability of cracked or damaged ESD floors
- Need for partial ESD coverage rather than full-floor replacement
The ProShieldESD solution
ProShieldESD was applied selectively to defined traffic zones as a thin-film, two-part ESD coating. The coating bonds directly to the floor surface without adding thickness or brittleness.
Because the coating remains thin, the mechanical load is carried by the floor itself, allowing forklifts and carts to operate normally.
Performance outcome
- Stable ESD behaviour in high-traffic areas
- No cracking or peeling under repeated wheel load
- Uniform charge dissipation across aisles
- Simple in-house touch-up for localised wear
Standards alignment
ESD-coated traffic zones support IEC 61340 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 compliance when integrated into a grounded flooring and handling system.
Key benefits
- Extends ESD control into warehouse movement areas
- Avoids full-floor replacement
- Withstands constant pallet and vehicle movement
- Low maintenance and high durability
